Newfoundland's Ciaran Hearn scored a try, but it wasn't enough as the United States defeated Canada 38-35 Saturday in a Pacific Nations Cup men's rugby match before about 8,000 fans at Bonney Field in Sacramento, Calif.
On the final play of the first half, the outside-centre from Conception Bay South picked up a loose ball and scampered 60-metres for the score to give Canada a 28-18 lead.

With the loss, Canada finished their annual June international test series with an 0-3 record, with earlier defeats coming against Japan and Scotland.
