Griffiths hits walk-off homer as Hitmen edge 3Cheers in senior softball

Fergus Griffiths’ walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning gave NTV Hitmen a 6-5 win over 3Cheers Pub Bud Light in Molson St. John’s senior men’s softball Tuesday night at Lion’s Park.

The solo shot made a winner out of Robbie Greene who relieved starter Sean Cadigan.

Jason Hill took the loss with 10 strikeouts.

Ryan Boland had three hits in three at bats for the winners. Danny Mullins had three hits in four trips to the plate including a solo home run.

Darrell Walsh had three hits for the losers.

The Bigs 13, Kelly’s Pub Junior Canadians 2 (5 innings)

Stephen Jesso had three hits, including a home run, to pace the winners. Keith Maynard had two doubles.

Johnny Doyle, in relief of starter Mike Noftall, pitched the win. Colby Murphy took the loss. Jordan Noftall pitched in relief.

The game was called after five innings on the league’s seven-run mercy rule.
