John Janes of St. John’s was re-elected to his second year as president Baseball Newfoundland and labrador at the association’s annual meeting in Gander during the weekend.

Janes has been on the Baseball Newfoundland executive since 2001 in the positions of president, vice-president and treasurer.

In addition to Janes, the entire Baseball NL executive was re-elected including Kevin Legge of Conception Bay South (vice-president,) Scott Adams of Upper Island Cove (treasurer), Scott Mercer of Upper Island Cove (Eastern director) David Janes of Grand Falls-Windsor (Central director,) Tex Seaborn of Corner Brook (Western director), Steve Phillips of St. John’s (minor chairman and Kevin McCarthy of Corner Brook (assistant minor chairman.)

The provincial association experienced an increase in registration for the sixth consecutive year with 2,270 players participating in 2010.

Minor adjustments were made to the tournament structure in both the senior division and the minor division. The executive and delegates placed an emphasis in 2010-11 on coaching, umpiring and long term player development with the new coaching program and the youth Rally Cap and Winterball programs.

      My grandson and I would like to go to the city baseball and soccer games. How do we find out when and where they will be played? Thank you Betty
