Capitals begin play at senior nationals today

The St. John's Winmar Capitals are taking part in the 2013 senior men's national baseball championship in Windsor, Ont., starting today and finishing Sunday.

The Capitals open against Chatham Ironmen from New Brunswick this morning. Bob Kent of will get the start for St. John’s.

The Newfoundland and Labrador representatives will play a doubleheader Friday. They’ll take on the Mississauga, Ont., Twins at 10 a.m. followed by a game against Fort Saskatchewan Athletics from Alberta.

The Capitals play Dartmouth Moosehead Dry from Nova Scotia on Saturday.

Manager Tyler Pittman (@liveatstpats) will also be providing Twitter updates from the games this week. The Capitals are hosting the event in 2014 in St. John’s.

The event  began with a home-run derby Wednesday night.
