Gushue said he has no intentions of playing at the Trials, which open Dec. 1 in Winnipeg. Instead, he will be there in a support role for Martin’s team, which includes Dave Nedohin throwing third stones and front end Ben Hebert and Marc Kennedy.
“I told Kevin I’ll help out wherever possible,” Gushue said. “I have no intention or will to play.”
Gushue and his Bally Haly Country Club team of third Brett Gallant, second Adam Casey and lead Geoff Walker was knocked out of the Pre-Trials in Kitchener, Ont. Sunday night with 7-5 loss to reigning Tim Hortons Brier champ Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
Jacobs and John Morris, Martin’s former third, emerged from the Pre-Trials to play in the Trials.
