I have to say Brad Gushue's head has swollen a far bit since the Olympics. If it wasn't for bringing in foreigners, you wouldn't amount to the level you think you are at. I always considered him a great curler but he has since lost any since of sportsmanship. I hope the Brier teaches you a lesson.

Brad Gushue would not have won the
Olympic Gold Medal without Russ Howard, no doubt about that whatsoever. I did not use the words
TEAM Gushue because Brad has, and
will, use anyone who can get HIM,
    and only him, ahead.
At the Brier I hope Brad
    remembers that he is representing
    Newfoundland and Labrador, and NOT
    Brad Gushue.

I think throwing a rock down a piece of ice is stupid, not a sport, and I'm sick of hearing about Brad Gushue.

Brad should just shut his mouth and go about his business. that B.S. about trying to throw off his opponents is garbage. I doubt very much if the other teams are shaking in their curling shoes because Brad says his team is a 9.5 or 10 out of 10! It just makes him look bad and adds to the number of people who are turned off but his attitude.

CJ, do you really believe that Brad
would have won the Olympic Gold Medal without Russ Howard ? He certainly is a great curler, though, I will admit that.

So typical of Newfoundland. The team wins Newfoundland's first - and only - Olympic medal and two years later we're chopping him up.

Ron,,,read what u wrote. the TEAM won and your chopping HIM up, CJ chemistry? wake up, yes Brad throws skip rocks, he missed a wide open draw to the 4 foot to win the juniors, he missed a wide open draw to score a 7 bagger in the Olympics, and he missed an easy hit an roll to lose the brier last year. Wanna responde and deny it???

History is written by those won, not those who lost. In 5 years it doesn't matter how many games Gushue lost to his provincial rivals in this tournament, the only fact a person will be able to find is the name next to Winner .

I have to admit, I was rooting for everyone else (aka 'The Underdogs') in this tourney as we all know Gushue can win and it would be nice to see Brad and his teammates really tested, not just on a National or International Level but on a Provincial Level to the point where Gushue would have to pull every trick and then some to squeak a win out.

The Team Gushue name aside, he will be the representative of Newfoundland and Labrador and I hope he does win at THIS YEARS Brier.

As for his. 'I'd rank our team a nine or a 9.5. Maybe even a 10 out of 10.' comment, we will see if his body can cash the cheque his statements just cashed. But let's face it, he is Public Enemy #1 in all of Curling. He has to sell his confidence (arrogance?) every chance he gets. He's not telling us, the reader about how great his team is, he's telling his competitors that because he is trying to throw them off their game.

For the Brier, I will quote Dallas Cowboy's wide reciever Terrell Owens and advise everyone to 'Get your popcorn ready' !!!

It was great to see the field step up last week and throw out lost of challenges. There can only be one winner and the NL Champs are well deserving.

There remains a lot of resentment towards Gushue and the team changes made last year. We have to get over it and from all indications the boys have so lets move on.

We have tagged people as 'cocky' when they speak positive of their team or situation.

    Good Luck at the Brier...

just reading the comments about brad and his team, as a missed place newfoundlander on the mainland, I really don't like the attitude, we as newfoundlanders should always stick behind our teams , without our support how far do you think they will get. when leaving for a spiel such as the brier they need all the support they can get . BRAD I HOPE YOU AND YOUR TEAM WIN EVERY GAME YOU PLAY, I WILL BE IN WINNIPEG CHEERING YOU ON.

When he says he likes their chances in Winnipeg, it's just not cockiness, he really believes it. Let's face it, it's not their first time there (lost in the finals last year) and The Brier is not as tough a field as he plays every week in the cash spiels on the World Curling Tour. He will be in the Top 3 or 4 to win.

All of these people who keep lambasting Brad are the same ones who were taking time off work to take part in Olympic glory two years ago. Yes, this is a team game. However, after many weekends on the road together, sometimes teams need a change to get the chemistry back to a winning formula. Even if it means bringing in a foreigner (Apparantly, other Canadians are foreigners now). Don't forget, Brad throws the skip rocks and he has been the hero and he has been the goat before as well. You will never please people like Niki, Margaret or Brent. Heaven forbid we ever stick behind one of our own, especially when he includes a foreigner on his team!
