Glenn Howard of Coldwater, Ontario captured his first Tylenol Players' Championship with a 7-1 victory over defending champ Kevin Martin of Edmonton, Alberta in the men's final Sunday afternoon at Mile One Centre.
Howard, leading 2-1, scored three in the sixth end after Martin's last rock over-curled leading to a nearly insurmountable 5-1 deficit.
With the win, Howard captured his second consecutive Capital One Grand Slam of Curling title, having already defended his titles at both the BDO Classic Canadian Open and The National. Howard won the third leg of the series when he successfully defended his title at the Masters of Curling.
The victory also earned the Howard rink 40 Canadian Team Ranking System points which guaranteed them a berth in the 2009 Canadian Trials.
