Newfoundland band Great Big Sea closed the 2009 JUNO Awards broadcast Sunday with a rendition of the Led Zeppelin classic "Gallows Pole."
The band was joined on stage by Hawksley Workman and members of eccodek.
Less than 48 hours after that performance, iTunes Canada has made the live recording available with proceeds from the track's sales being donated to MusiCounts, Canada's music education charity associated with CARAS.
The track was mixed in Vancouver by recording engineer and producer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica, Aerosmith) who donated his services.
MusiCounts is dedicated to helping schools sustain their music programs through Band Aid musical instrument grants and scholarships and by honouring extraordinary music teachers.
