Clarenville, NL -

The Clarenville Caribous and Conception Bay North CeeBee Stars are about to hit the ice for Game 2 of the Telegram Herder Memorial Trophy Championship series at the Clarenville Events Centre.

The Bous, defending Herder champs having bested the CeeBees in five games last year at Mile One Centre, took the early series lead with a 4-2 win Saturday night.

Chris Mooney scored twice, with import player Ryan Lauzon adding one and rearguard Fred Earle picking up the spare. Mark Tobin and and Matthew Thomey had the CeeBees markers.

Jason Churchill backstopped Clarenville to the win, stopping 36 of 38 shots fired against. Freddy Diamond meanwhile faced 30 shots in the Ceebees' blue ice.

As a point of interest, the winning 50/50 ticket holder took home $3,584.00 from Game 1.
