Just as they did in the series opener, the Clarenville Caribous and Conception Bay North CeeBee Stars finished the first period tied up.

Both teams scored a pair in the opening frame knotting the game at deuces.

Clarneville opened the scoring at 2:41 with a goal from Travis Chapman. The CeeBees responded 33 seconds later with a goal from captain Matthew Thomey.

The Caribous got their one-goal lead back with a powerplay goal from Darren Colbourne near the 17 minute mark but surrendered it to the CeeBees' Mark Tobin with a little over a minute to play in the frame.

Shots were 18-10 in favour of the Caribous.
