Caribous up 6-2 after 40 minutes

The Clarenville Caribous are within 20 minutes of capturing their second straight Herder Memorial Trophy.

The Herd went into the second with a one goal lead and widened it to a four goal lead with three unanswered markers.

Andrew Pearcey made it 4-2 near the 10-minute mark and Ryan Penney put the Herd up 5-2 with his unassisted goal 40 seconds later. Ryan Lauzon, who already had four assists on the night, got his fifth point with a powerplay goal at 14:17.

Shots on goal in second were 18-4 in favour of Clarenville, making it 36-17 overall.
