Just as they did in the series opener, the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts left the ice following the first period with a 1-0 lead over the Conception Bay North CeeBee Stars in Game 2 of the Telegram Herder Memorial Championship Series at Mile One Centre in St. John’s.
The Cats’ opened the scoring on a two-on-one with Wes Welcher feeding David Philpott who roofed it past Freddy Diamond blocker side.
Shots were 12-11 in favour of the CeeBees, who look far better in the early stages of Game 2 than they did Saturday night.
During the first intermission the Subway Avalon East Senior Hockey League will present its regular season awards. More to follow once the honours are handed out.
