After 40 minutes of play, the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts took to the dressing room with a 3-2 lead over the Conception Bay North CeeBee Stars in Game 2 of the Telegram Herder Memorial Championship Series at Mile One Centre in St. John's.
Ray Dalton, from Ryan Delaney, got the CeeBees on the board to tie the game. Andre Gill put the Cats' back on top 2-1 when Mike Brent hit him with an on-side stretch pass sending him in to beat Freddy Diamond with a breakaway goal. Chad Earle then put the Cats up 3-1. But the CeeBees responded 46 seconds later with a goal from Ryan Delaney.
Shots were 11-8 for the Cats in the second and are 22-20 in their favour overall.
During the first intermission the Subway Avalon East Senior Hockey League presented its regular season awards.
