The Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts head home up 2-0 in the best-of-seven Telegram Herder Memorial Championship Series following a 5-4 win over the Conception Bay North CeeBee Stars in Game 2 Sunday at Mile One Centre in St. John’s.

The CeeBees started the third period down 3-2 but took a 4-3 lead in the first four minutes on goals from Chris Bartlett and Scott Brophy.

The Cats responded one minute and 12 seconds later when Chad Earle potted his second of the game to knot it at 4-4. A minute after that, Mike Sibley scored to give the Cataracts the lead.

The series moves to Grand Falls-Windsor for Games 3 and 4 next Friday and Saturday night at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium. A Game 5, if necessary, goes next Sunday, also in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Be sure to check Monday’s print, online and digital editions of The Telegram for full coverage of the opening games of this year’s Herder, including full game summaries and provincial and league senior award winners.

The Cee Bees are two steps behind the Cataracts and that's why they are down 2-0. Head Coach Brian Casey is out-coaching Ian Moores by a long shot. Its over boys, its over. The Cataracts are on the verge of being the all time Herder wins with eleven. Go Cats Go!
