Good evening from the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H., where the St. John's IceCaps take on the Manchester Monarchs in AHL action tonight (8:30 p.m. Newfoundland time).
There are only two lineup changes by IceCaps coach Keith McCambridge from the lineup used in a 4-1 season- and franchise-opening win over the Providence Bruins Friday night in Rhode Island. One sees Peter Mannino getting the start in goal (David Aebischer was the St. John's netminder Friday) and Patrice Cormier will play his first game for St. John's, moving into centre on the third line, sliding rookie John Albert over to left wing, replacing another rookie, Shayne Wiebe.
BTW,. for the reader wondering why Cormier was a healthy scratch Friday McCambridge notes that Cormier, who had been assigned by Winnipeg to St. John's on Thursday, didn't arrive in Providence until the wee hours of Friday morning and with more than enough forwards on the roster, thought it would be best to give Cormier a day off and a couple of skates with his new team before putting him into action.
Here are the line, defence combinations and scratches for the IceCaps tonight.
