Riley Holzapfel's first-period power-play is standing up as the St. John's IceCaps lead the Manchester Monarchs 1-0 after two periods in New Hampshire.

Shots on goal after two periods are 16-16 (IceCaps had 8-7 advantage in the middle frame). Peter Mannino continues to be solid in the St. John's net.

Manchester is zero-for-four on the power-play. St. John's is one-for-two.

Some notes:

Marco Rosa and Jason King are wearing the assistant captain's 'A's' for the IceCaps tonight ... Former NHL defenceman Eric Weinrich, now the assistant coach for the AHL's Portland Pirates, is taking in the game ... St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter, whose complete-game shutout Friday led the Cards into the NHL final, is a Manchester native. Ken Cail, the play-by-play voice of the Monarchs, swears Carpenter was a better high school hockey player than he was at baseball. Carpenter was a defenceman for Manchester's Trinity H.S.
