Good evening from Mile One Centre, where the St. John's IceCaps take on the Toronto Marlies in American Hockey Legue action beginning at 7:30 p.m. NT
This is the sixth meeting in as many weeks between the Marlies and Caps, with Toronto winning twice in regulation and once in a shootout and St. John's winning once in regularion and once in a shootout.
Both teams are division leaders. The IceCaps sit atop the Alantic with a 21-8-5 record and the AHL's best winning/points percentage. The Marlies, 19-13-5 are in first place in the North Division
Fior St. John's, there will be one change to the lineup that swept the Manchester Monarchs at Mile One last weekend. That sees veteran Garth Murray, just-recovered from an injury, moving into the lineup in place of Ben Maxwell, serving the first game of a two-game league-imposed suspension for a boarding major in Sturday's game against the Monarchs.
Marco Rosa and Riley Holzapfel remain on the infirmed list, while rookie defenceman Ben Chiariot continues to await a chance to break into the lineup.
David Aebischer, 8-0-1 in the last five weeks, gets the start in goal for St. John's. Jussi Rynnas, who just may be the hottest netminder in the AHL, goes for the Marlies, whose lineup features, among others, Phillipe Dupuis, Joe Colborne, Matt Frattin and Colton Orr, all assigned to the farm team by the parent Toronto Maple Leafs since the Marlies last visited St. John's in late November.
