Bonavista’s Adam Pardy is back in the NHL.

On Monday night, the Buffalo Sabres recalled 28-year-old defenceman from their AHL farm team, the Rochester Americans.

If Pardy suits up tonight against the Ottawa Senators, he will be making his regular-season debut for the Sabres. He was acquired in an off-season trade that brought Steve Ott to Buffalo and sent Derek Roy to the Dallas Stars, but he was put on waivers at the end of the post-lockout training camp last month and assigned to the Amerks.

In five games with Rochester, the six-foor-four, 225-pound Pardy had a goal, two assists and a plus-three rating. Pardy has suited up in 183 NHL games with the Calgary Flames and the Stars, scoring four goals, adding 25 assists and picking up 157 penalty minutes.

The Sabres have already lost blueliners Robyn Regehr and Andrej Sekera to injury and Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff hinted Monday another rearguard may be hurting.
