Teams from Nova Scotia won both championships in the 15th Confederation Cup high school hockey tournament which concluded Sunday in the St. John’s metro area.

The CP Allen Cheetahs of Bedford defeated the Holy Heart Highlanders of St. John’s 6-4 for the Tier One title.

Mark Collins, Nathan Jardine, Matthew Mayer, Leighton Yeo, Brett Estabrooks and Noah Popwell scored or the winners. Holy Heart goals came from Zach Hill, Dylan O’Leary, Chris Mallard and Grant Nolan.

The Tier II title went to the Northumberland Nighthawks of Westville, N.S., winning 5-2 over the Booth Memorial Braves of St. John’s.

Jared Wall scored three goals for the champions, who got single scores from Colby Fraser and Tyler Ferguson. Owen Winsor and Justin Carberry scored for Booth.

The tournament attracted 27 teams, five from Nova Scotia and one from New Brunswick, with 21 Newfoundland and Labrador entries.

A decision by the Eastern School Board to order its schools not to play hockey Saturday morning resulted in six default decisions.

Semifinals results:

Holy Heart 2, Kennebacasis 0

CP Allen 4, Gonzaga 3

Northumberland 4, Queen Elizabeth 3

Booth 2, Park View 1
