Monday was a busy day in professional hockey as teams around the NHL and AHL made roster moves in advance of their upcoming season.

The St. John's IceCaps were no exception. The AHL farm team of the Winnipeg Jets reassigned two players — forwards Zach O'Brien and Yasin Cisse —  to the Ontario Reign of the ECHL, released seven more and received two players — centre Patrice Cormier and defenceman Zach Redmond — from the Jets.

The seven released players — goalie Adam Brown, defenceman Zach Bell and forwards Phillipe-Michael Devos, Maxime Legault, Patrick Kennedy, Blair MacAulay and Mike Ulllrich — were in training camp on tryouts.

Those moves left 29 players on the St. John's roster as the team prepares for its 2013-14 season-opener Friday against the visiting Providence Bruins.

Here are the 29. All were signed to contracts heading into training camp, except for the tryout players indicated by an asterisk:

Goaltenders (3) Michael Hutchinson, Jussi Olkinuora, Eddie Pasquale

Defenceman (11) Ben Chiarot, Patrick Cullity, Travis Ehrhardt*, Kris Fredheim, Jordan Hill*, Brenden Kichton, Cody Lampl*, Juilan Melchiori, Will O'Neill, Zach Redmond, Cody Sol

Forwards (15) John Albert, Austen Brassard, Patrice Cormier, Andrew Gordon, Jason Jaffray, Carl Klingberg, Adam Lowry, JC Lipon, Josh Lunden, Kyle MacKinnon, Kael Mouillierat, Eric O'Dell, Blair Riley, Jerome Samson, Ryan Schnell
