Kichton has a goal and two assists in 3-1 victory at Providence; Hutchinson makes 34 saves

The St. John's IceCaps extended their winning streak to a season-high four games Sunday afternoon, downing the Providence Bruins 3-1 in American Hockey League play at Providence, R.I.

Rookie defenceman Brenden Kichton had one of the goals and assisted on the others, by Andrew Gordon and team captain Jason Jafrray, for St. John's (24-16-3), which moved into seventh place in the AHL's Eastern Conference, a point ahead of the P-Bruins.

The three points give Kichton 35 on the season, putting him in a tie with Kael Mouillierat for the team scoring lead.

Michael Hutchinson, who has played every minute of the four-game winning streak, made 34 saves in the IceCaps' goal.

St. John's got a superlative performance from its special teams, killing off all seven Bruins power plays and scoring on two of their own. What's more, Jaffray's goal came just four seconds after the expiration of a Providence penalty.

The IceCaps finish off a five-game road trip Friday and Saturday, taking on the Portland Pirates and Manchester Monarchs respectively.
