The C.B.N. CBR advance to semifinal round to face top-seeded Avalon Capitals
The CBR Assante Wealth Management Renegades advanced to the Penney Kia St. John’s Junior Hockey League semifinals with a 4-2 win over C.B.N. MoorFrost Stars in Game 7 at Bay Arena Monday night.
The Renegades took the best-of-seven quarter-final series 4-3 and will now face the Avalon Roebothan McKay Marshall Capitals in the semifinals.
The Capitals advanced to the semifinals by beating the Trinity Placentia IJ Smith Home Building Centre Flyers.
The Southern Shore C&W Offshore Breakers and the St. John’s Hickman Automotive Group Caps will meet in the other semifinal. The Breakers got past Mount Pearl Mark’s Dakota Wild in their quarter-final, while the Caps defeated BK Services Celtics in their series.
The semifinals schedule will be released in a few days.
Ryan Power, Steve LeDrew, Alex Tulk and Mitch King each scored once for the winners. Cody Batten and Michael Andrews replied for the Stars.
The Renegades led 2-0 after the first period and the teams were tied 2-2 after the second. Renegades outshot the Stars 41-36.
Goaltenders Mitch Puddester of the Renegades and Connor Thompson of the Stars were chosen Jungle Jim’s players of the game.
