The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed left wing Daniel Cleary to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million, plus bonuses.

The 35-year-old Harbour Grace native, who had been an unrestricted free agent, has spent the last nine seasons with the Red Wings, helping them win the Stanley Cup in 2008.

Cleary finished last season with four goals, four assists and 53 penalty minutes in 52 games, but had his season cut short in January by knee problems.
