Isles, Sens to square off in two exhibition games on same day at Mile One Centre

The New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators will play two National Hockey League exhibition games at Mile One Centre on Monday, Sept. 22.
The NHL released its full pre-season schedule on Tuesday and it shows the Islanders and Senators using split squads for games at 3  p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Mile One.

With both teams so early into training camps at that time, they will be carrying crowded pre-season rosters, making it easier to come up with lineups for two games on the same day.

While the 7:30 p.m. game was announced in March by IceCaps Entertainment, which is putting off the exhibition, there has been no such announcement on the afternoon contest between Isles and Sens and there is no ticket option for that game on the Mile One Centre website. However, on Tuesday, a spokesperson for IceCaps Entertainment said details would soon be forthcoming.

One of the big questions certainly will be about the planned lineups for the games, especially since thousands of tickets have already been sold for the evening contest at $124.30, plus surcharges.

According to the Mile One Centre website on Tuesday evening, there were still tickets available for the 7:30 p.m. contest, although many sections have been sold out, while a number of others showed only single seats available.

Given that people have bought tickets expecting to see both teams top players, have their B teams play each other in the afternoon and the A teams play in the evening.
