A search is continuing, but there's little hope for two men thrown into a pond near Clarenville Saturday morning when their fishing boat capsized.
Clarenville RCMP and search and rescue personnel were on the scene Saturday, searching for the two men from Clarenville.
RCMP Cpl. Rupert Baker said the men were trouting in Deep Bight Pond, about five kilometres from Clarenville, when the incident happened.
Police say the boat capsized in a crosswind throwing the three men on board into the water.
The third man managed to make it to shore. Police were called at about 11:30 a.m. by the man who made it to shore.
The other two men are still unaccounted for this morning.
"Whether they got ashore is anybody's guess," said Baker. "You hope for the best, but things are pointing the other way."
Baker said plans were being made to have divers search the pond this morning along with a continued ground search of the shoreline and nearby woods.
All of the men were in their mid to late 20s, Baker said.
The RCMP is not releasing the names of the men, he said.
