Newfoundland businesses going to international oil and gas conference

The Offshore Northern Seas Exhibition and Conference in Stavanger, Norway next week will welcome a delegation from Newfoundland and Labrador's oil and gas industry.
The provincial and federal governments are providing $157,825 for the group to attend the conference from August 26 - 29, 2008.
"Our government's investment in this trade mission will provide Newfoundland and Labrador companies in the oil and gas industry with a variety of matchmaking, networking and marketing opportunities to increase their export activity and enhance Atlantic Canada's economic performance," Fisheries Minister Loyola Hearn said in a release.
The Newfoundland and Labrador delegation plans to develop trade partnerships for offshore oil projects and for technology transfer, and promote Atlantic Canada as a place to do business.
The bi-annual conference attracts more than 35,000 delegates from 100 countries around the world.
NOIA, the Newfoundland and Labrador Oil and Gas Industries Association will be leading the delegation.
Other participants include Harvey and Co. Ltd., Acergy Canada, C-CORE, Caron Hawco Communications Inc., East Coast Tubulars Ltd., Memorial University of Newfoundland, NOSO Limited/Beattie Industrial Ltd., PanGeo Subsea Inc., Pro-Dive Marine Services Ltd., Rutter Technologies Inc., and the Town of Paradise.

    Agreed.

    Is the Town of Paradise sending an official or the Mayor?

    It doesn't matter because in 5 years time Paradise will be amalgamated into St. John's.
