Shrimp vessel picks them up after 18 hours on the ice
Two Swedish men were rescued by a shrimp fishing vessel Monday morning after the men spent 18 hours on the Arctic ice floes following their plane going down.
A Canadian Forces CH-149 Cormorant helicopter and crew from 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in Gander, along with a C-130 Hercules and Cormorant out of 413 Sqn, from Greenwood N.S., were involved in the search for the missing plane.
The plane, with the two Swedish nationals aboard, reported losing two of its engines late Sunday night south of Iqaluit, Nunavut, in the area of the Hudson Strait.
