HALL OF FAME CUP

Bishops College Barons claimed the Hall of Fame Cup Hoop championship over Holy Heart of Mary Highlanders 83-78 in the male division Sunday afternoon at the PowerPlex in St. John's.

Most valuable player Justin Grainger netted 46 points to lead Bishops to the title.

Tournament all-star Steve Smith sank 23 in a losing effort. Other all-stars included Keagan Ezekiel of Bishops, Trevor Hearn of St. Catherine's, Stephen Pike of Booth and Ciaran Curran of Mount Pearl.

Holy Heart advanced to the final by defeating Mount Pearl 75-65, while Bishops earned a berth in the final by defeating Booth Memorial Braves 72-61.

In female, it was Gonzaga Vikings overcoming a 16-point second-half deficit to claim the crown over St. Kevin's Mavericks 58-56.

Teresa Earles led the way with 17 points, while Audrey Molloy sank 10 for St. Kevin's.

The tournament MVP went to Emily Jameson of Gonzaga.

Tournament all stars were Kelia Pond and Shaina Adams of St. Kevin's, Laura Zwicker of Booth, Laura Power of Holy Heart and Amy Gough of Bishops.

St. Kevin's advanced to the final by beating Heart 57-45 and Gonzaga earned a berth in the championship game by defeating Bishops 76-37.
