Im glad too see a new team coming to st. john's. ticket prices are very reasonable also. 8-$16.

But now let the complaining start again about those rediculous ticket prices and the lack of downtown parking from the lazy bum portion of the st. john's population.

Great to see some progress! Ill be a strong supporter of the team! see you in 09-10.

While I've been advocating a team without taxpayer subsidy is the only way to go, I congratulate all concerned and wish the best for the team and all hockey fans. Thius looks like the perfect deal for everyone.

That being said, I take great exception to morons like What a Farse From St. John's who simply likes to complain for the sake of complaining.

What a joke. Hope that Mile One starts to verify income for tickets. Welfare and EI need not be used to pay for a bunch of beer swilling rejects that just cause problems and need to have police called all the time.

Maybe the team should be paying for police services in advance. We all see what has been going on, and know where this is going before it even begins.

Remind me to warn all visitors to the city not to stay at the Delta during hockey season. Too dangerous with these ya-hoos on the streets.

It's nice to see the return of hockey to St. John's. However can we please call the team the Capitals? Not the Fog Devils or the Snow Drifts or Ice Pellets or some other focus group tested, incredibly lame name. As another poster said in a previous article, what's wrong with a little tradition? Bring back Buddy the Puffin too.

TO What a Farce. I'm highly insulted by your post. I am a hockey fan, and I can assure you that I will not be spending my EI or welfare cheque on my season tickets. I get up every morning at 5 and head off to my full time job. I pay my bills and my taxes, so apparently, I'm paying your bills too. I thought this forum was moderated to keep insulting bozos like this from posting?
To the rest of you fine people, don'[t get too excited yet. This deal is FAR from done. The Telegraph Journal from Saint John has an article which quotes Morrisette as saying regarding St. John's... They may accept my terms, that doesn't mean I'm going there . Also, the move requires two thirds approval from the other teams, and a lot of them are against moving to this city. Today's approval was just the first hurdle. It just shows the arrogance of city hall that they are the last word. It also shows the ignorance of this paper to report it is done and the team will be here next fall. That is simply not the case.
Having finished my rant :) I just want to say I hope this does happen, and I'm waiting for the line to get my season tickets. Bought with my HARD EARNED money. I'm just remaining cautiously optimistic.

Robert really needs to read what has been stated. The OP was refering to those on EI or Welfare. They tend to be the majority when it comes to those who purchase these types of tickets. Why should you or I was our time and money to have them spend it on these tickets?

People really need to read before they type. No wonder you have such a low self image of yourself. You forgot to open your eyes and comprehend what was put clearly in front of you. And you are permitted to drive to work at 5:00am?

Time to take the bus buddy or at least get your eyes checked. The life you save might be your own.

Looks like Earl wants only whats positive for a few to be posted. What about the majority of people that do not nor did share the same outlook as you? Should they not also be heard as you feel you have the only rights?

No wonder only those that have, have been able to bring the economy to the point it is today. Greed and corruption by a few in an attempt to present a voice for all has placed everyone in a very bad spot. It is about time people stood up for what they want, and not what they are being told they should do or want.

Are you upset that Terrace won, why? You should be happy that a small town was able to benefit, and not hold a grudge.

Bet it bothers you that the CAW took a wage freeze to keep jobs, Maybe the Nurses will see what it takes to keep jobs from what the CAW needed to do, or is that not inline with your thinking and should not be permtted either?

Let's do this right this time, let's get behind this lets embrace this team and not make the mistakes we have done before. Whether they keep the Titan name or change it to something else it doesn't matter we got our second chance. This great day in hockey history for this province since we were award the Fog Devils. Don't complain about parking or prices, because like I said before this is our second and maybe last chance lets show that we should have never lost our team in the first place.

David from NL the last time that we took a team from another place they worked out quite well lasting 14 years here. This time the team will be run by someone who knows hockey and that will make a difference as well. There's already one big difference in the ticket prices $8.00 for kids--I don't remember the Fog Devils ever going that low for kids tickets and in all honesty I don't even remember them ever having a kids rate.

Mr. Leo-Guy Morrissette has been in this league aslong as any other 25 years to my knowledge this man I think has some pull with the other owners of not getting bullied around and will stand up to the other owners, still hope they aprove this. Let's do our part and support this team, I see on other postings that this team should be called the Caps not a bad idea but if he decides to keep the Titan moniker please do not use this as an excuse not to support this team, like I said before call them the Caps, Flyers, Blades, Sabres, Vikings or the same Titan I'll be supporting them well maybe not if they are called the Maple Leafs, just joking.

Congrats to all involved for reaching this agreement. Be it AHL or QMJHL or Senior or even XBox or Playstation, Hockey belongs in St.John's. The only thing now is that the city has to do this right this time.

And wouldn't you know it - I will be leaving the province long-term next month. :(

I will however be watching this team from afar (just as I followed the Fog Devils while I was here), and should I get the opportunity to come home for a visit during the Q's regular season, a game at Mile One will definitely be in the works. There you go, another hockey team so the little people can shell out their hard earned money or their welfare cheques and our big-fish-in-a-little-pond elite can stroke themselves in their tax-writeoff corporate boxes. I guess it's only slightly better than the lottery machines for controlling the ignorant masses, but it's still bread and circuses to distract them. Professional sports are for stupid people to waste their time and money on. A false economy created to control and limit people. Not that sports fans have much to aspire to after they've acquired their big foam finger. If one penny of taxpayers money goes to this ridiculous exercise, city council will only verify their pathetic reputation. But, I guess we now have to watch the ignorant paint their fat faces and pay $12 for a box of cold popcorn. But that's OK, somebody dressed in silly costume will distract them from the distraction.

And the devolution of society marches on!

The team owner gets another couple of years in a bigger centre with a newer stadium to showcase his team and cash out properly, like the Fog Devils did.

And as long as the City avoids being left holding an expensive bag at the end, they're quite willing to help rip the hearts out of Bathurst fans.

Congratulations on your new team...what comes around goes around.
