france she has every right to the oil and gas off her sovereign territory and nothing Harper can say can stop the un from proceding on this claim. france she can prove precedents of ownership of natural resources such as fishing to support her ownership of oil and gas resources off her coast. no one owns the animals that died to create these fossil fuels. france she is the economic powerhouse that canada cannot afford to go against with trade in the eu. nuff said.

The headline on this story is incredibly misleading. France/SPM aren't claiming ANY Canadian territory. They are CLAIMING territory outside 200 miles which may also be CLAIMED by Canada, but which is not indisputably Canadian by a long shot.

People need to take a breather and maybe actually check the facts. Maybe that's too much to expect wrt Newfoundland and boundary disputes, where everyone seems to lose their heads.

PEPE you either a mainlander or from the mainland with attitude like that. You a uptight mainland professor at MUN by chance? Sound like one for sure. Less of your attitude for the survival of this Republic!

France and the EU in general have taken enough from us over the years (the fish) and the only reason France even recognises St. Pierre as its own is because they hope to get their hand on what is rightfully Newfoundland's and Canada. I hope Canada fights this one all the way. Pepe Lepieu sounds like a disgruntled French speaking person.
