At 3:17 p.m. Thursday, a young man walking on the beach in Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove found a military ordnance shell - a line throwing rocket that had washed up on the shoreline.
Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's explosive disposal unit responded and removed the item from the beach and disposed of it without any problem.
It is not known where the explosive originated from.

Bit of a stretch to classify a line-throwing rocket as military ordinance , a shell, or an explosive, in my opinion (yes, I know that the propellant could be used as an explosive in the right environment, but that wouldn't get your rocket off the launcher). It sounds more like a Marine Rescue Device to me, but that would be less newsworthy, I suppose.
