Treasure hunters of all ages are invited to attend Manuels River's third annual geocaching day for family fun, "Indiana Jones and the Lost Idol." Teams will register from 12:30-1 p.m. The event is free, but donations to the Manuels River Natural Heritage Society are welcome. A.C. Hunter Library in the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre is offering a basic introduction to Twitter, for adults, Monday, Aug. 3, 1:30-3 p.m. Register at 737-3950. Free, but space is limited.

Tuesday, Aug. 4

The Quidi Vidi/Rennie's River Development Foundation's annual fish fry will be held on the eve of the annual Royal St. John's Regatta Tuesday, Aug. 4. Central Dairies executive chef Steve Watson will prepare a delicious meal of locally farmed blue mussels and steelhead trout with proceeds in aid of the environmental initiatives of the organization. Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling 754-3474.

Thursday, Aug. 6

Celebrate local authors and their books at the Winterset in Summer Literary Festival in Eastport Aug. 6-9. Hear Wayne Johnston, Jean Dohaney and other writers discuss their work with CBC's Michael Enright and political columnist Richard Gwyn. Watch Rising Tide's new play, "Peter's Other War." Saturday, Aug. 8

Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association NL will hold a dinner and dance Saturday, Aug. 8 at Branch 1, Royal Canadian Legion, at 7 p.m. Ticket cost is $15 per person. For catering purposes, the cut-off date for tickets is Thursday, July 30. No tickets will be sold at the door.
