The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is requesting the assistance of the general public in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run collision in May.
Shortly before midnight Saturday, May 30, the RNC responded to a single-vehicle collision on Hamilton Avenue at the intersection of LeMarchant Road in St. John's.
A 1995 red-coloured Saturn car was east bound on Hamilton Avenue when it drove onto a traffic island where it struck a traffic sign post. Witnesses indicated three males exited the vehicle and left the scene right after the crash.
The driver was described as being approximately 5'7" tall, 180 lbs, balding, goatee-style facial hair. He was described as wearing a blue vest, dark pants, plaid shirt and white sneakers.
Images recorded shortly after the crash are of a person believed to be the driver.
RNC patrol officers are continuing to investigate this hit and run and are seeking the assistance of the general public.
Anyone who can identify the driver or anyone who may have any information in relation to this hit and run is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can provide information on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.rocktips.ca.
