Two hours into battling a serious fire on Water Street emergency crews are still pouring as much water as they can on a fire that burned through four attached buildings.

Black smoke is still rising in large plumes from the structure and firefighters have not regained entry to the building since they abandoned it at 7 p.m.

Flames could be seen through windows in the bottom two stories of the buildings up until 7:30 p.m. but the fire has mostly been doused.

The massive crowd that gathered to watch the fire ravage the buildings has begun to dissipate as the worst is likely over.

The fire is believed to have started in Pasta Plus' new location on Water Street just after 5 p.m.
