A 12-year-old Spaniard's Bay boy is recovering after being struck by a pickup truck while bicycling Saturday afternoon.
RCMP say the boy was crossing a residential road at about 12 p.m. when he was struck by the vehicle.
He was taken to hospital with a broken leg and wrist, said Const. Chris Harris. However, he is expected to recover.
"He's in good spirits," Harris said. "I was talking to the nurse at the (Carbonear) hospital a few minutes ago and she said he was a trooper."
Harris said the 80-year-old driver of the truck was not injured, but was driven home as a safety precaution. There was some damage to the vehicle.
Harris said there was no fog and roads were dry at the time of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
