Good for Kurtis, Nice to see someone his age so passionate about his town and willing to run. He obviously put on a good campaign to have that tight of a race. He doesn't have much experience but everyone's gotta start somewhere.

Kurtis there were more than three votes that put you in as mayor...it was each and every person that voted for you. Thank God for all those wonderful people in Paradise who looked past your age and saw what you had to offer this town that right now is like a sinking ship...I'm sure that in no time at all you'll give us back that town we used to be proud to call PARADISE! BRAVO to you my son...you made history as being the youngest mayor in Canada's history and you put Paradise on the map as well as Newfoundland with this feat...and don't forget that Memorial University is looking pretty good right now as well. We need some volunteers now to get Home of the Youngest Mayor in Canada put at the bottom of our Town of Paradise sign.
All of Paradise should be proud of the history that was made here today and all of us should join together and stand up and congratulate this young man...and help him to make our town well rounded and self sufficient like Mount Pearl instead of becoming more torn apart like Portugal Cove/St.Philips. The people have spoken and there is a new sheriff in town. Way to Go Kurtis Coombs Mayor of Paradise.

WOW what an amazing result. I too thought it would be a landslide for Ralph Wiseman and never voted. However, since I didn't vote, I don't have the right to complain. I congratulate Kurtis Coombs and will support our new mayor.

In response to Waiting, first of all no wonder you didn't use your name, I would be ashamed of my poor grammar skills as well. Just for future reference when you try to insult someone by saying you will lose something, it's L O S E not L O O S E.

And also, MAYOR Coombs has something that most people do not have these days, compassion. He really cares for the people of Paradise. No matter if he is 19, I am sure he will do a fine job. I know that Kurtis can do this, it's something he has always been serious about. And for those of you who think being 19 is playing against him, I can tell you, that you are VERY WRONG. I am also a youth, it is very hard to get ahead these days when people are harping on you because of your age. Whether you want to accept the fact that someone who is not middle aged is capable of being elected as mayor, or not. Guess what? It has happened. Congrats Kurtis, I am sure you will do your fellow youths and the residents of Paradise well. I am very proud to say you are the mayor of Paradise.

Congrats Curtis, you worked hard on your campaign and you deserve a chance. Make us proud. It's time Ralph fell off his high horse. Maybe now we well see some much needed services in this community. Ryan if you didn't vote then you don't have the right to complain.

Questions for the Coombs family ... if after a recount you loose , will you sue the voters ??
If you win will you try for a drivers license???

This doesn't seem right... He has no experience in any politcal circle. Paradise is a growing town and we need someone with experience to guide us through our developmental stages. I am sorry but there are more Ralph supporters than Kurtis. Most people I spoke with didn't bother to vote because we figured Ralph would win in a land slide. There are 4 individuals in my own family who support Ralph but didn't vote. While I realize my mistake and wish I had voted, I feel that I cannot and will not support this mayor.

Such a close election really makes you feel like your vote counted! Ralph should never have come up to my subdivision and got in a shouting match with my neighbour over greenspace. He lost enough votes from that on Sunday, he could have won this election!

    congrats mayor Coombs,
Lets see a paid Fire dept here in Paradise now, were i live its a 12-15 min response time from Mt. Pearl. We do not have water or Sewer on my Street and my house is 900 feet from the closest fire hydrant. So I want our town to have a fully staffed fire dept 24-7, for the life safety of MY Family and my neighbour familys.
