The provincial Department of Transportation and Works has issued an advisory to motorists that, effective immediately, the bridge over the Alexis River on the Trans-Labrador Highway will be reduced to one lane and limited to passenger vehicle and light truck traffic.
The bridge requires repair and the department said it has engaged a contractor to assess the structure and carry out the necessary work, as soon as possible.
The bridge will remain reduced to one lane until further notice. Motorists are asked to use caution and to reduce their speed in the area.
