Sutton, a former teacher and high school basketball coach, passed away last month from cancer at age 46. Sutton played for Memorial and was also an assistant coach for the Sea-Hawks.

The brief tribute will be held before the Atlantic university men's basketball game scheduled for eight o'clock Saturday night between Memorial Sea-Hawks and Saint Mary's Huskies.

John Devereaux, a good friend of Sutton's and former MUN player, will toss up the ceremonial game ball. The captains Saint Mary's and Memorial, along with the captains of the Stella Maris and St. Kevin's high school teams, will participate.

Devereaux will then hand the ball over to Sutton's wife Darlene and son Jesse.

Memorial men's basketball team will be wearing T-shirts dedicated to Sutton during the warm-up and will also wear a black arm band with Sutton's No. 4 on their sleeve.

Stella Maris and St. Kevin's schools, where Sutton taught, will have teams in attendance and will have a power-point video about Sutton set up on the top level of the Field House for people to view.

An insert about Sutton's contribution to basketball will also be included in the game program.

Noel Duff will make a memorial tribute, which Ron Tobin will present on behalf of the basketball community to Sutton's wife and his son at the end of the tribute.

Meanwhile, the Sutton family has donated all of Sutton's videos, books, manuals and other resources to Basketball Newfoundland and Labrador to help other coaches in the province.
