House of Assembly votes to fire child and youth advocate Darlene Neville

Suspended child and youth advocate Darlene Neville has been officially removed from office by the House of Assembly following a vote today.
Neville sat in the public gallery in the House today as the debate on the government's motion to dismiss her ended with its passage after a vote that followed along party lines.
Neville was suspended with pay in August after months of accusations, investigations, complaints and counter-complaints between Neville, the Speaker of the House Roger Fitzgerald, citizens' representative Barry Fleming, Neville's staff and senior bureaucrats.
On Thursday, Finance Minister Tom Marshall outlined the complex timeline of events and the case against Neville. He said government found four areas of misconduct which justify her being fired.
