Former provincial junior champ and world junior silver medallist Stacie Devereaux is 2-0 after handing Strong an 8-6 loss in Draw 2 of the provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Earlier in the day, the Devereaux foursome, which includes third Stephanie Guzzwell, Sarah Paul and lead Heather Martin, recorded a decisive 12-3 win over Bally Haly clubmate Cindy Miller.

Devereaux held a 4-1 lead heading into the fourth end when Strong, with the hammer, knotted the match. After the teams blanked the fifth, Devereaux scored two in the sixth, gave up a pair in the eighth, but came back with two points of her own in the ninth and ran Strong out of rocks in the 10th to secure the victory.

This is Devereaux' second shot at the provincial title. In 2009, the team finished 2-4 while Strong went a perfect 6-0 on her way to a fifth straight and ninth since 1998.

All six rinks competing in the provincials are out of St. John's-based clubs.
