At least one big name in the Canadian music scene has now been confirmed for attendance at the 2010 JUNO Awards in St. John's.
Bryan Adams will be on hand to receive a special award recognizing his work in support of famine relief, childhood education, cancer research and other causes.
The announcement that Adams would be given the honour, the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award, was officially made during a press conference held at the Delta hotel in St. John's this morning.
The award will be presented to Adams at the 2010 JUNO Awards show on April 18.
"I'm accepting this award, in the hope that it will inspire and encourage others to contribute and/or also give back," stated Adams in a news release made available at the morning announcement.
Also announced during the press conference, former Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences chairman, and music industry veteran, Ross Reynolds will be presented with the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award.
In addition, the morning event included the official launch of the host committee's website for Ruckus on the Edge, the name for the 2010 JUNO events (being held from April 12 to April 18).

I have seen that 2000 tickets will be available for the general public to buy to see the Junos. That leave 6000+ for the industry types and such to shmooze and whatever. It's nice to see that the people who actually BUY the music have a good shot at seeing this show. (sarcasm intended)
