Responding to calls last week, the SPCA took ownership of three dogs it says were found living in poor conditions. One of the dogs, Blackie, has been adopted, but Lucky and Baby need new homes.
The SPCA has said via e-mail that the dogs were found outside, kept in a wooden box on the previous owner's property. While fed regularly, the animals were not cleaned up after and "lay in their own feces and urine." They have been bathed since they were removed from the property.
Lucky is female, nine years old and a spaniel mix. Baby is also female, five years old and a Labrador/beagle mix.
Anyone interested in adopting the animals is asked to contact the St. John's shelter at (709) 726-0301, or visit the SPCA in person.
