A friendly rivalry is brewing between Canadians and Americans stationed at Kandahar Airfield.
And as with many things Canadian, it's over a hockey game - in this case, Sunday's gold-medal match between Team Canada and Team U.S.A.
The Yanks are talking tough after their team trounced the Canadians by a score of 5-3 when they met in a round-robin game last Sunday.
But the plucky Canucks stationed here say Sidney Crosby and the boys are firing on all cylinders now.
The Canadian troops don't seem phased by Team Canada's nail-biter of a win against Slovakia in the semi finals on Friday night.
But the Americans say nothing would be sweeter than beating the Canadians in their own backyard at their own game.
Yanks talking tough, but Canucks in Afghanistan have gold in their sights

To Sean in Texas, my remarks regarding hockey being our game are based on nationialism and pride with our team and country. You took it as arrogance but if you read the whole story it quoted by the US soldiers that they wanted Canada to be beaten in their back yard at their own game Their words not mine. Go CANADA Go!!!

Stay safe guys and enjoy the game. Remember, there are more people rooting for you than either of the teams playing for the gold today.

To Dean in NS...Hey Dean, you must think that our players are minor league?Well, flash to Dean.....our pros are coming to win on Sunday.....and they have a much better chance of beating your sookie players in what you so arrogantly ,and bogusly, refer to( the first hockey game was played in Sweden in the 1880s) as Canadas Game, as you guys have of beating an NFL team in football! Go USA...
