Firefighters from the St. John's Regional Fire Department responded to a number of brush fires Saturday including one on Torbay Road and one at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and New Gower Street. They made quick work of both but say that today's brisk winds can make small brush fires, whether accidental or deliberately set, spread very quickly.
