Search crews on the Burin Peninsula located a missing man this morning who had spent the night in the woods in a makeshift shelter after he could not find his way out.
The Burin Peninsula District RCMP received a complaint about 11:55 p.m. of the overdue 47-year-old man from Rushoon.
The man had left Rushoon about 9 a.m. Thursday to possibly cut wood in an unknown location. Friends of the family assisted in locating the man's vehicle near Grandy's Pond, North of Bay L'Argent intersection on Route 210.
An RCMP police dog and the Burin Peninsula Search and Rescue Team conducted a ground search through the night and located the man at approximately 7 a.m.
The man was escorted out of the area by Burin Peninsula Search and Rescue Team members.
The Burin Peninsula RCMP and the Burin Peninsula Search and Rescue Team would like to remind people to advise family or friends of intended locations to be visited and an expected time of return, to assist agencies in the event of a search.
