Observer: The women' basketball budget is higher because they win more than the men's team -- so they advance to more tournaments and thus play more games, requiring more costs in air-travel and equipment (because they are likely required to host some of those tournaments/games as well). No coincidence. Just facts.

A hockey team for MUN is a no brainer. The university could ice a competitive team that could be profitable if marketed the right way. Only thing preventing one is the fact it would take attention from the unsuccessful male basketball and volleyball programs which the university continually tries to promote.

Michelle, looks to me like the womens basketball budget is larger in every area. Coincidence?

Memorial should have a varsity hockey team. As one of Atlantic Canada's largest universities it is long over due. There are many talented players in this province who would love the opportunity to play at home. I know there is a large cost to run a hockey program but with the right people running the team I am sure that it could work. As for a place to play....last time I checked Mile One does not have a major tenant.
