Health Minister Jerome Kennedy told the House of Assembly this afternoon that the air ambulance in St. Anthony will be moving to Happy Valley-Goose Bay on May 30.
The province announced the relocation of the air ambulance service in late March, but didn't give a date to when the plane and its crew would be moving.
Some people who live in the St. Anthony area have held protests over the move, both locally and at Confederation Building in St. John's.
The opposition parties have also criticized the move, calling on the province to keep the plane in St. Anthony and buy another plane for Labrador.

Mr. Kennedy will go down in the history books for making the worst decision in the history of our province. His treatment of the people of northern Newfoundland is nothing but disrespectful. We have proven to be more than capable of this service and many lives have been saved by it. It has not been since government starting interfering in a process that worked that there has been any problem. Shame on you Mr Kennedy and Mr Williams........your intelligence really shows through in this one!

Trevor Taylor has hit the lowest of the low with his letter to the Northern Pen. The contempt and arrogance he displayed to his former constituents and fellow Newfoundlanders, whom he abandoned, is disgusting to say the least. Mr. Taylor was obviously one of the reasons for the voters in his district to want change, and he is still sore about it. Mr. Taylors statements also confirm what the opposition claimed during the by-election that the PC Party were wielding the sword of healthcare as an attempt to extort votes from the people of the district, more sleazy behavior. I hope the Premier hung his head in shame after reading Taylors letter. Mr. Taylor exposed himself for what he really is, a pompous horses behind. Take what shreds you have left of your dignity Mr. Taylor and stay in Ottawa, youre type is not needed here; we already have enough arrogant politicians in government now.

Labrador is a very squeaky wheel, and the government seems intent on using St. Anthony to grease it. First, the headquarters of the health board is moved from st. Anthony to Goose Bay. Then, the air ambulance is moved. What next? the school? And, after Labrador has gutted St. Anthony, where, then, does it turn? Deer Lake has a nice little [profitable] airport...

The opposition parties have suggested that the Govt purchase another aircraft to stay in St. Anthony. With this stupid suggestion, you can see whey they are still in opposition . Who is going to foot the bill for this, the taxpayers, of course.

It is very sad when a party is so powerful that they can destroy a community because they did not vote for the Party.
