An application by the SPCA to have a dog that is considered "aggressive and dangerous" put down, was set over to Monday with it was called in provincial court today as lawyers indicated there might be a resolution to the case.
The dog belongs to Gerald James Clowe who recently had charges of animal cruelty against him dropped due to a lack of evidence.
The case caused a stir last fall when two dogs in Ferryland were left tethered outdoors with little human contact, although they appeared to have food, shelter and water. Only one was found alive during a visit by SPCA officials.
The SPCA alleged one dog was tied to a doghouse, while the other dog was chained on another part of the property.
The dog that is the subject of the SPCA application is an eight-year-old Alaskan malemute named Girlie, and according to the SPCA, she is considered "aggressive and dangerous."
Clowe objected to having the dog put down.
