Becca Dyer of Mount Pearl Marlins and teammate Gavin Dyke were selected a the top competitors at Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador's Long Course Provincial Championships at the Aquarena in St. John's during the weekend.
Dyer took the female crown and the Jacinta Sheppard Memorial Award based on the highest ranking swim scored on the FINA point chart during finals. She recorded a score of 629, while Dyke earned a score of 560 to take the male award.
St. John's Legends earned the top team award at the event with 7,350 points overall.
There were 182 swimmers from 10 clubs throughout the province involved in the meet, that saw six provincial records fall.
Following the meet, the Speedo Awards were announced for the season.
The winners were:
Female swimmer of the year: Nadine Rockwood (St. John's Legends)
Male swimmer of the year: Brandon McKay (St. John's Legends)
Coach of the year: Ariel Ward (St. John's Legends)
Volunteer of the year: Wannetta Hynes (Northern Lights Swim Club)
SNL swimmer merit award: Theoren Goosney (Corner Brook Rapids Swim Club)
