Police in Labrador are reporting that the body of a boy has been recovered from the Churchill River near Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The body is believed to be that of one of three boys who went missing after taking a boat over Muskrat Falls earlier this year.
Police say the body was discovered by a resident just below the second falls. They've taken the body to hospital in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, where an autopsy will be performed.
Police aren't publicly identifying the boy.
Roy Sainsbury, 18, Ryan Russell, 19, and Randy Rose, 19, all College of the North Atlantic students had gone missing during a May 18 canoe trip on the river.
The three disappeared at Muskrat Falls after they fell or jumped from their canoe before it reached the falls.
Officials say the water level in the area now is several feet lower than it was during the search immediately after the incident.
The reduced current and lower water levels will likely make searching the area easier and safer for the volunteer search teams, who will continue to look for the bodies of the two other boys, who are both also presumed dead.
Up until now the only evidence of the young men had been a matching pair of sneakers belonging to one of the men and three pieces of their 18-foot aluminum boat found by searchers.
